چکیده
We present a case of congenital intrahepatic aneurysmal portosystemic shunt in which the right portal vein communicates with both a variant inferior right hepatic vein and the right hepatic vein. We also describe the importance and efficacy of three dimensional computed tomography reconstruction images in determining subtle, small shunt vessels.

Inferior vena cava hypoplasia with right hepatic vein and accessory inferior hepatic vein shunt.
Inferior vena cava (IVC) hypoplasia is a rare condition. Venous blood flow is usually provided through collaterals in the azygos or hemiazygos venous systems. However, portosystemic shunts with intrahepatic venous collateral are extremely rare. The case is presented here of a large shunt between the right hepatic vein, accessory inferior hepatic vein, and inferior vena cava in a 37-year-old fem...
متن کاملEarly experience of Budd-Chiari syndrome treatment with transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt.
The Budd-Chiari syndrome is a heterogeneous group of disorders characterized by obstruction of hepatic venous outflow at any level from the small hepatic veins to the junction of the inferior vena cava with the right atrium. We present two cases of Budd- Chiari syndrome with severe ascites associated with polycythemia vera in first case and protein C deficiency in the second, in both cases tran...
متن کاملTransjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt creation using a three-dimensional fluoroscopy guidance system in patients with the Budd-Chiari syndrome.
When performed for Budd-Chiari syndrome (BCS), transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) creation can be technically difficult due to hepatic congestion and asymmetric hypertrophy. We present three female patients with decompensated BCS in whom TIPS were created using a three-dimensional fluoroscopy guidance system. On a dedicated workstation using three-dimensional volumes of comput...
متن کاملDirect intrahepatic portocaval shunt for refractory hepatic hydrothorax: a case report
Case A 64-year-old man with complaints of dyspnea and orthopnea secondary to a hepatic hydrothorax refractory to diuretic medication underwent the transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) procedure to decrease the portal vein pressure. The TIPS procedure failed due to severe liver stiffness. Direct intrahepatic portocaval shunt (DIPS), a modified TIPS procedure that directly inserts...
متن کاملCongenital multiple intrahepatic portosystemic shunt: an autopsy case.
Multiple intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (IPSS) without portal hypertension, now thought to be congenital in origin, is very rare. The presence of IPSS, unlike other congenital diseases, may not be recognized for several decades due to the time it takes to develop hepatic encephalopathy. In this article, we report an autopsy case of an 80-year-old Japanese woman with a one-month history of hyp...
